PRESIDENT’S REMARKS

"As I look back on this past fall, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for being a part of an amazing team that is thriving in a challenging time for the home and remodeling industry overall. Overcoming adversity is never an easy endeavor, yet every New Spaces employee and all of our trade partners, suppliers and manufacturers have continued to uphold our accredited reputation.
Looking ahead to the new year, I am filled with anticipation for the successes and exciting ventures to come as we settle into our new Edina office, continue to grow as a team and change people’s lives by creating spaces they can truly live in and love.
A special thank you to our industry partners and to New Spaces Founders Doug & Carol Nelson. The Nelsons paved the way towards the legacy of greatness we continue to uphold in the Twin Cities area."

PROJECT SPOTLIGHTS

Walker Project

In this 1978 townhome renovation, New Spaces reconstructed the condo’s kitchen, main level and stairway to better suit the needs of owners Kate and Vince. Located in Minneapolis, the condo underwent a thoughtfully designed and executed makeover, getting the home ready for the next phase of their lives. The owners initially contacted New Spaces with the objectives of increasing natural light, improving the flow of their home, adding countertop space and improving storage capacity.

Roepke Project

The Roepke family, owners of this ’78 walk-out rambler, chose New Spaces because they appreciated our design first approach! A key feature of this remodel was a new open floor plan – walls were removed to create flow throughout the kitchen and family room areas. The 3- to 4 season porch conversion eliminate barriers leading to the porch, adding additional connectivity.

A large center island provides flexibility and space for multiple cooks in the kitchen. This project also features Moderno porcelain countertops, an up-and-coming product. Considering the next chapter of our clients’ lives, we added a laundry and mudroom on the main floor to provide true main level living.

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

Amy Haugen

Coty & ROMA Award Winner

jan229

Amy Haugen waited 18 years to renovate her two-story home in Minnetonka. Originally built in 1987, the property’s floor plan was choppy and outdated, and unused spaces neglected to take advantage of the square footage.

Living in the home for nearly three decades, Haugen had ample time to figure out her pain points and the aesthetic she wanted to achieve. Born in Hong Kong, she appreciates the clean lines and smooth surfaces common in Asian interior design, and after meeting with New Spaces she felt they were the right team to bring her modern home dreams to life. “I have grown to develop a deep appreciation for contemporary style and wanted this aesthetic to be displayed even greater in my home,” says Haugen. “I wanted to bring this home into the 21st century with colors and an open floor plan.”
