This project focused on transforming the kitchen and living space of a traditional home to create a more open and cohesive environment. The main highlight of the renovation involved removing a partial wall that previously separated the kitchen and living room. This wall, standing at a height of 8 feet but not attached to the ceiling, was eliminated to reveal an expansive open space with unobstructed sight lines all the way to the back sunroom.

By removing the wall, the project achieved a significant improvement in the overall brightness and flow of the space. The kitchen benefits from a front bay window, allowing ample natural light to flood the area. The addition of light from the sunroom further enhances the brightness, creating a welcoming and airy atmosphere throughout the entire main level.

To maintain a sense of continuity and openness, the project employed continuous luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring throughout the main level. This choice of flooring not only unifies the different areas but also adds to the overall spaciousness of the renovated space.

Given the client's preference for a traditional style, particular attention was paid to working with the existing honey oak trim. The selection of new materials was carefully curated to complement the warm tones of the trim, resulting in a harmonious aesthetic. Warm and neutral tones were chosen, reflecting a timeless and comfortable ambiance that aligns with the client's vision.

In addition to the visual enhancements, the renovation also prioritized functionality. More storage space was created to accommodate the client's needs, while a seating area was incorporated at the peninsula. This new peninsula seating area offers a cozy spot for coffee and breakfast, providing a convenient and inviting space for the clients to start their day.
