Smart Lighting

What is smart lighting? By the most basic explanation, it's the next major innovation in residential lighting. Already, we're starting to see some of our clients and the population in general move towards this amazing option. Smart lighting is considered to be both eco-friendly and money-saving due to its ability to be controlled, adapted, and intelligent.

The Definition of "Smart"

When it comes down to it, there are a variety of things that make smart lighting "smart". These features may vary a little bit from product to product, but this will give you a general idea of what smart lighting has to offer:

  • Color-Changing Capabilities
  • Easy Dimming Without a Switch
  • Scheduling
  • Syncing (to music or other sounds)
  • Smart Phone Controls
  • Timers
  • Voice-Control
  • More

These features offer an almost endless amount of potential. With many smart lighting systems, you have the capability to wake up with a sunrise simulation or change your exact hue of lighting between millions of colors almost instantaneously. As you use these lighting variations, you can learn more about the kind of light that fits in best with your lifestyle - what kind of lighting do you want on before bed? How do you want your room to be lit when you're working out or working from home? The decision will be entirely yours. As an added benefit, most smart lighting systems are easily controllable from your smartphone or tablet, meaning that you won't have to worry about leaving the lights on for an entire vacation or even while you're at work. That said, scheduling features can help you to have peace of mind without ever worrying about manual intervention. You can program your lights to come on during certain periods while you're away to avoid the appearance of vacancy, or you can have them all turn off at night when you're heading to bed. There's no better way to have control over your home and the way its lit.
