On Oct. 20th, Representative Dean Phillips joined our New Spaces team onsite at one of our current Minneapolis whole home remodels, bridging the gap between small businesses and politics.
The event came together last minute when I was at a (Burnsville) council meeting. I learned of Rep. Phillips’ initiative to get more involved with local small businesses, and thought it would be a great opportunity for us both.

Rep. Phillips worked alongside our contractors in demolishing walls, ripping up flooring, cutting down old water pipes and getting an exclusive look at what our production team does on a daily basis.
The work was no easy task, but Rep. Phillips was not intimidated by the challenge.
“I think it is great that we were able to show a political representative the value of hard work when it comes to running and maintaining a small business. People like Rep. Phillips have a unique platform to speak on behalf of their community, but the first step in being able to do so is getting in our community’s shoes,” he finished.
What was a last-minute event had lasting impacts. Not only was diplomacy met eye-to-eye with entrepreneurship in a fresh way, the event showed how when these two forces meet, both sides are left better than they were before. A lesson that applies on the worksite, and off.
