Kitchen, Mudroom and Garage Addition & Powder Room
With three kids approaching their teenage years, and a Southwest Minneapolis home that only had three bedrooms (the largest of which was 10×10) our family made the decision to move six blocks east for more elbow room. Our 1927 center hall colonial was last remodeled in 1974 and while the fact that they removed all heat in the kitchen was humorous, it wasn’t long term livable. (We actually stored produce inside of a kitchen cabinet during the winter, it was so cold.) Our project included a full kitchen remodel, tearing down the wall between the dining room and kitchen, adding a main floor half bath, and tearing off and expanding a new garage with an attached mudroom. As hoped, our home along the creek has turned into a destination for our kids and their friends, and a place of relaxation for all of us! Thursday, May 14th at 5:00pm – Kitchen & Main Level Remodel
Kitchen & Main Level Remodel
See how we helped these homeowners dramatically transform the main level of their 1987-built two-story home. The goal of this remodel was to expand the kitchen to make better use of the neglected formal spaces. This New Space features an expansive kitchen and a separate wet bar with quick access to both the family room and backyard. A cohesive mix of wood and enamel cabinetry, quartz countertops, and LVP flooring throughout the main level make this a stunner!
Previous Features: Kitchen, Main Level & Mudroom
1990’s Kitchen & Main Level
This main-level remodel has been a huge hit for the family and their friends. Every square inch was updated to create a stunning home perfect for daily life and entertaining. The two-story entry creates a stunning first impression with an entirely redone staircase. Favorites features are the custom wire-brushed hickory floors and new gourmet kitchen featuring dual islands, exquisite quartz countertops, and exceptional lighting package. From top to bottom, this one was a showstopper!
Before the remodel this kitchen was dated with oak cabinets and wasn’t ideal for the client’s lifestyle. At its core, this property was a typical late 80’s / early 90’s kitchen design that made it difficult to entertain. The room felt dark and lacked the open layout that’s preferred by today’s homeowners
2000’s Basement Transformation
It was time for this unfinished basement to become usable space for this family. They really desired a neighborhood hangout for kids and adults in the neighborhood. Our design team worked with them to create a spacious family room, billiard area and a walk behind bar that is perfect for entertaining. This basement is ready for game night, movie night or a block party!
Master Bath & Main Bath Remodels
After growing tired of the challenges a small bathroom from 1936 brings, these clients were looking for a creative way to get more bathroom space in their Tudor home. As the New Spaces’ team and clients worked together, they all agreed a dormer addition would provide the perfect solution. The beautiful new space has all the amenities of a modern-built home — including a spacious shower, a soaking tub, expansive vanity, and custom dressing area. The design and build of this remodel was all completed with the original architecture at heart. The final product proves that it is all in the details.
The bathroom in this 1956-built California Rambler was transformed by the New Spaces’ team. Taking inspiration from the existing architecture, the tongue and groove pine ceiling is complimented with warm-stained cabinetry. Maintenance-free shower tile emulates warm, natural stone, highlighted by glass accents that bring color and sparkle into the space. The result is a beautiful blend of old and new.
