Obstacles and Opportunities
The main floor of this Eagan two story home offered plenty of space but the kitchen was confined to a small corner and was not functioning for this family.
The main floor of this Eagan two story home offered plenty of space but the kitchen was confined to a small corner and was not functioning for this busy family of five. Our design-team worked together with our clients to expand the opening between the kitchen and living room and remove the wall between the kitchen and dining room. A secondary patio door was removed and the kitchen was expanded into that space. The laundry and mud room were combined to create a larger area that offered more storage and a better flow. The new kitchen features a large pantry, gourmet stainless steel appliances, and a secondary prep sink. Drawer base cabinets wereused for easy access and storage throughout the kitchen and cabinetry was added in the dining room for storage. The beverage refrigerators added in the dining room are the perfect place to store refreshment’s. New flooring ties the space in with the rest of the home and gives this 1987 build a whole new look. Now this is an updated, transitional space that is as functional as it is beautiful.
This 1980’s special featured honey oak cabinets, tile countertops and cold tile floors. It was cramped and did not function well.
By combining the dining nook and kitchen, our team was able to expand the foot print and function for this family.
Now this is how one should dine! Display cabinets and additional storage were added to create a warm, inviting entertaining space.
With five people coming in an out of the kitchen every day, a prep sink was a must for this family. This special feature was added next to the new pantry along with the microwave and coffee bar to create the ultimate prep corner without impeding the main cook space.
